continued from Paper Airplane Party Tips (page1)...

5. First, Setting a Budget
A good range of cost for most parties is $2 to $8 per party guest, but you can spend as much or as little as you want to spend.

This is what I do... I determine the total amount of money I have to spend on a party.

For example, let’s say that I can afford to spend $100. I then decide how many kids will be invited. To continue the example, let’s say there will be 15 coming. That means I will have $6.68 to spend on each guest.

You have to remember that this cost includes food, decorations, cake, party favors, invitations, crafts, activities, and anything else you’ll need to pull off a successful party.

Here’s the best part! You can do a lot to keep costs down by making as many things for your party as possible. You can make your own great snacks, cake, decorations, party favors, and invitations, for example. Making things can cut the price of the party down considerably.

6. Paper Airplane Party things....

Here’s a list of what you can do for saving on cost and making the paper airplane party theme work.

For Invitations
Make one paper airplane for each invitation. Write your date, time, and location and all other important information on the outside wings.

You can make the paper airplanes smaller that the usual 8.5 x 11 size paper to fit in smaller envelopes, but most paper airplanes will fit in a #10 envelope once folded. Have your child help you by coloring the paper ahead of folding, or stuffing the envelopes.

For Activities
Chase ’N Race Game: Have lots of thin construction paper or plain white copier paper and crayons on hand. Pick the simplest paper airplane design and show the kids how to fold their own. They can color the paper first.

Have your helpers and volunteers give a hand to each child in folding. A good idea is to practice the folds with your helpers a head of time so you are completely familiar and comfortable making the paper airplanes.

For Food
Make a cake (any kind will do) and put a design in icing of a simple paper airplane(s) flying like the little plane you see here or something from your own imagination.

Have pretzel sticks on the table along with mini marshmallows. Have the
little pilots fashion their own stick airplane by using the marshmallows
as “joints”. Or they can make an airport hanger or runway with the pretzels and marshmallows. It’s edible tinker toys! Once they finish their masterpieces, have them gobble them up.
